Original tarot card drawn for the forthcoming Penny Dreadful (Season One) trading card set.
II High Priestess - Knowledge, potential, mystery, secrets:
Traditionally a gowned lady on a throne, wearing a silver crown and a cross round her neck, with pillars and a fruit tree at her back.

Here the throne is made of skulls, a scorpion of protection is around her neck (the cross is in a rosary wrapped around her hand). Her silver crown is actually the lobotomy clamp used on her at the asylum. Instead of a pillar there's a ghostly statue of her friend Mina, or the memory of her, in the background. And instead of a fruit tree, the lush plants of the Botanical Gardens where she met Dorian. In her hand she holds up a tarot card, featuring herself upon the card.
Ink, acrylics, and 22k gold leaf. 2.5x3.5" (ACEO size) The frames and scrolly things are all drawn as well.
