Eol the dark Elf - detail by BohemianWeasel Eol the dark Elf - detail by BohemianWeasel
It seemed a shame not to clearly see his grumpy little face, so: voila, a close-up.

Pale white, icy blue and black is a wonderful color-combination. His eyes are beautiful. You painted a rather reddish and purple forest with "curvy" trees, which is on the one hand a clever contrast to his cold and spiky armor, on the other hand there is purple in his hair and skin - he is part of the forest.

I like this close-up more than the full-view, because his pose is rather flashy (those hips and hands, though…). He looks grumpy, but confident - I like that, I think he is competent. I also love the shiney curles on his pauldron and the black feathers.

Nice drawing!

However I still conceived following my readings about the Eol the Moriquendi character that he was one of the rarest Eldars in the known Middle-earth legendarium to have the particuliar physical feature of be born with a noticeably dark complexion.

In all the references I've read so far, Eöl's sobriquet of 'Dark Elf' refer to his character and habits rather than to his skin colour (like living in a black forest, dressing all in black armour, completely shunning daylight and most other Elves, generally being secretive and grumpy, and obviously being a 'dark elf' who didn't see the light of Aman).
But I've not yet seen a mention of him having darker skin, even though Tolkien did specifically describe other characters (like Caranthir) of being darker or redder in the face; so if he'd intended that for Eöl as well I'd have expected the description to be overt or specific. Do you have a source? Or is it more your own personal interpretation of the character?

I've seen that mention about the specificity of his skin tone correlating - in somehow bit ironically - with his "dark elf" identity while I've readed "The Silmarillon" many years ago.

Atleast, one of his few different editions : seen I've recently readed again that book just for verify and this time away none mention about his skin described as "dark" is marked.

Oh I think we're allowed to. ^_^
On one hand it's a shame there aren't more women doing things, particularly in LotR which sometimes feels like a lovely little treehouse with a 'no girls allowed' sign painted (in elegant runes) on the door.  So it's up to us to make the most of what we do have in these excellent books: which is a lot of men. I think it's only right and proper to be enthusiastic about them.  :meow:
